When choosing a bike, you tend to consider a strong, reliable frame with the best possible shock absorbing system. There are plenty on the market to satisfy your needs. Yet, when choosing a pram or stroller, not many manufacturers prioritise a shock absorbing system and not many parents consider the importance of this key feature.
Your delicate newborn baby (and latterly, toddler) will spend at least 3 years in their pram. Sleeping or sitting for a few hours a day, if not all day in the summer. While you will use your bike suspension probably a few times a week, maybe for few hours depending on your lifestyle.
Don’t you think there is a huge discrepancy here? Why wouldn’t we care the same for our babies and the vehicles they ride in? Shouldn’t the pram industry move on and finally start innovating?
At Babylimo we think about prams a lot.
We think of a pram or stroller as a vehicle… a ‘baby car’ … built to protect little passengers with delicate spines as well as providing comfort – oh, and we also think they should look good for the drivers too.
We think about prams a lot and we decided that safety and comfort are crucial not only for a newborn, but also for a toddler. They will sit in the pushchair on various terrains; in the forest, on a muddy road, in the park riding through tree roots or on the street.
We understand that prams won’t be used only on beautifully smooth pavements – even if you live on Oxford Street, you will have an occasion every month to go ‘off-road’, depending on your lifestyle. So, we build prams ready for any terrain – and work backwards to smooth pavements.
At Babylimo, we understand that what you need is an all-terrain ‘ baby vehicle’ that will also help you to rock your newborn asleep in the pram, confident that he or she will remain sleeping throughout your whole journey – even when you accidentally hit that annoying tree stump.
With our prams you won’t struggle going up a cliff, pushing the pram through rainy weather with big holes in the pavement, or exercising with it. You should enjoy your parenthood, not get tired with it with a poorly designed pram/stroller.
We think differently at Babylimo.
We set out to create ‘parent proud driving prams’. Even if your husband or partner has reached a middle age crisis… our Babylimos are significantly cheaper than a Porsche!
We want to encourage Dads to take more walks alone, giving mum a break; we want to encourage mums to walk straight after they feel good enough to go out. Pushing a pram and its precious contents shouldn’t be a struggle – it should be a joy.
That’s why we created a three-way shock absorption system: for front wheels, rear wheels and also for the middle section of the frame.
This way whichever wheels goes through an obstacle or uneven terrain – the other shock absorber reacts. The frame shock absorber on both sides of the pram allows you to rock the baby (not many prams are built this way, being quite stiff even when pushing through the curb on the street – not even mentioning rocking a newborn to sleep).
Understanding babies and specialising in their development needs, we decided that this third shock absorber also needs a locking mechanism. Once your baby is closer to half a year – a year, and entering toddler phase – they don’t need to be rocked, and don’t necessarily need to have an ultra smooth ride. It is easy to lock the frame and not use the shock absorber feature at all.
You see…we have thought it all through. We thought about you and your baby’s needs: happy parent – happy baby, and happy baby – happy parent. There is a certain symbiosis in this relationship.
Your parenthood is our priority.
